Muunga misses out on 100m semi-final Clinton Muunga

ZIMBABWE’S Clinton Muunga missed out on the men’s 100m semi-final at the ongoing World Athletics Under-20 Championships today when he came seventh in Heat One, in 10.79 seconds at Kasarani Stadium.

The first three in each heat and the next six fastest qualify for the semi-final.

Going into the race, Muunga had one of the leading times in his heat, at 10.38 seconds but found the going tough when finishing bottom in Heat One.

The heat was won by Nigeria’s Godson Oke Oghenebrume in 10.35 seconds. He was followed by Canada’s Almond Small with a time of 10.54 seconds and on third place was Yeykell Eliu Romero of Nicaragua in 10.60 seconds.

Eduard Kubelik of Czech Republic was fourth in 10.66 seconds and Iraq’s Falah Al-Khazaali was fifth in 10.75 seconds.

On sixth place was Brazil’s Igor Clemente Medeiros with a time of 10.77 seconds. There were six heats for the men’s 100m round 1.

Muunga is now shifting focus to the 200m event scheduled for Friday.
