Several dignitaries in the business and academic sector were honoured with a career and leadership award from the Laying Solid Foundation Institute (Lasof) at a dinner held in Harare on Saturday in recognition for their sterling work towards positive contribution in building positive legacies in society. Among those honoured were Zimbabwe Newspapers chief executive Mr Justin Mutasa, Great Zimbabwe University vice chancellor Professor Rungano Zvobgo, Women’s University in Africa vice chancellor Dr Hope Sadza, Zimbabwe Open University vice chancellor Dr Primrose Kurasha and Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Commissioner-General Gershom Pasi.

Lasof chief executive Dr Charles Mugaviri said they had to date recognised 7 000 leaders countrywide.

“’Honouring our great leaders constitute an important step towards nation building. This is in recognition of the effort and commitment towards the training of young people to contribute positively towards nation building. Thus, it is imperative that we bestow this great honour to them, while they are still with us,” he said.
Guest of honour former Finance Minister Herbert Murerwa urged those honoured to continue working towards raising the next generation.

“I’m humbled to see that Lasof has  identified and undertaken to groom societal leaders from within the underprivileged. I take heart to see some of the pupils  from the Matthew Rusike Children’s Home whom the institute has identified and undertakes to groom,” he said.
