Mutare is in for a series of festive treats with a number of gigs lined up at Platinum, formerly Pick and Save. Sungura maestro Alick Macheso shares the stage with renowned gospel musician Blessing Shumba on Christmas day, while man of the moment Jah Prayzah is scheduled to perform on December 30.

Music lovers are expected to converge from far and wide the mountainous province to bid farewell to the “year of learning” in style.

On a holy note, Shumba is expected to usher fans into praise and worship mood as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The musician whose song “Chimwe ne Chimwe” from album “NdiJesu” topped the gospel charts for a considerable stretch since its release last year said it was important that people thank God for his blessings.

“A lot has happened this year and we all need to thank God for everything and to ask that he guides us into the next year,” said the soft spoken gospel musician.

Macheso yesterday said he was ready for the show as he unveils songs from his coming album “Tsoka Dzerwendo (Ayaya)”.

“Mutare like all other cities in the country has been very supportive and they have been patient with us. We have to salute them with a well polished performance,” he said.

Jah Prayzah, through his manager Keen Mushapaidze, said the gig was their last performance in Mutare.

Show organiser Esau Mupfumi said it was good to have several musicians on the day.

“We need to give people entertainment during this year-end. This shows we are committed to give them the best each time,” said Mupfumi.

The Chikanga-Dangamvura legislator has been hailed for his efforts to bring entertainment to the Eastern border town after the collapse of the popular Chapter One joint.
