Walter young brother to German-based Zimbabwe international Knowledge Musona, was named in the 30-man side that has gone into camp in Harare ahead f their July 29 assignment against Angola.
He has been a revelation at Aces Youth Academy and appears to be tracing the steps taken by his elder brother Knowledge who is currently the best striker for the country.
Walter Musona wrote his own piece of history when he was part of Team Zimbabwe last year during the COPA Coca-Cola training camp held at Chelsea in London.
Newly appointed Young Warriors team manager Patrick Mutesva said yesterday that their training camp would now be over two weeks as financial constraints forced them to opt out of their proposed three-week training.
The squad trooped into camp on Monday at the Zifa Village and started training the following day under the watchful eye of their coach Jairos Tapera at Rufaro.
“All players who have been called reported for camp and we are at the Zifa Village. The preparations are going on well and we are training twice a day-morning and afternoon sessions.
“We are happy with the players that we have called and there are no injuries to worry about. The fitness level are fine because our leagues are currently in full swing and we want to capitalise on that in terms of match fitness.
“We are running around to see if we can organise friendly games before they go into battle but it will be against local opposition.
“We hope to play ZPC kariba on Saturday in Kariba in part of our preparations.
“We would have wanted to have a three week training camp but it has since reduced to two because we are working on limited resources.
“So far so good and we are looking forward to the game on July 29 and its most likely to played at Rufaro unless something came up,” said Mutesva.
Mutesva who is also former manager of the Under 17 highlighted that they have little information about their opponents.
The Young Warriors technical team only knows that they have tall and heavily built players and their current U-20 squad has four players who are part of Angola senior team.
“We have little knowledge about Angolan-Under 20 team but assistant coach Mandla have seen them play before and we hope to use that to our advantage,” added Mutesva.
The Young Warriors have returned the bulk of the players who did duty in the first round when they dismissed Botswana.
Vincent Mbira will, however miss the Angola assignment as he is serving suspension after picking up two yellow cards in the earlier round.
