Murape dedicates games to fans Murape Murape

DYNAMOS assistant coach Murape Murape says they have to dedicate all their games this season to the eight supporters who perished in a road accident on their way to Gweru to support the team last week.

The Glamour Boys face Ngezi Platinum at Rufaro on Sunday looking to build from the morale-boosting 2-1 away win at Chapungu last week.

The win was overshadowed by the tragedy that left several other fans seriously injured.

Murape yesterday said they needed to give the fallen fan a befitting send-off by fulfilling their wish to see the team turn the corner and start doing well in the league.

Dynamos also heaved a huge sigh of relief after the National Football Association set aside the judgment by the Premier Soccer league Disciplinary Committee ordering them to play the match in an empty stadium because of the violence that rocked their league match against FC Platinum last month.

“It has been a difficult week for us because some of the fans that we lost were friends and some were family to the players and the Dynamos institution,” said Murape.

“We have take it as a challenge to the players, the technical team and even the supporters. This is the time we should put our hands together because we are in this together.

“We expect the team to respond positively because we have to honour the supporters who passed away. We have to play for them and make sure we win our games.

“We have to give them a befitting send-off so every game that we are going to play this season we will dedicate it to our fans because they lost lives wanting to see the team do better.

“We have to fulfil their wishes. It has to be a challenge, it has to motivate us because if some people can lose their lives just wanting to support their team what about us as players and the technical team who are responsible for the results on the field of play?”

The Harare giants have no injuries to worry about and head coach Lloyd Mutasa is looking to have all his players available for selection.

Murape also confirmed that former Soccer Star of the Year Denver Mukamba was angling closer to a return to the Glamour Boys.

Mukamba, who is now a free agent after returning from a three-year stint in South Africa, was yesterday understood to have agreed terms with the former champions who are now pressing for his reverse transfer.

He featured in a practice match against Division Two side New Life Academy.
