THE National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness have set the end of March as the date on which the 2018 Mr and Ms Novice bodybuilding titles will be decided with Zimbabwe College of Music being the arena.

The event will be the first in the NFZBF 2018 calendar and is expected to attract more than 40 athletes.

NFZBF spokesperson Quiet Shangai said he rates the competition highly as it is used to prepare future bodybuilders who would contest in bigger events such as the Mr Zimbabwe and Mr Musclemania.

“I rate Mr and Ms Novice a the most important competition because that is where the future is created as any sustainable model must allow for new players that is novice.

“This year there are a number of sponsors like the headline sponsor Musclerage and partners like GS Fitness Academy, Crime Stoppers, Active Fitness Group and MuscleXclusive. We are still engaging other potential sponsors.

“I can confirm that the annual event is going on.

“There are other services like health fitness and wellness seminar as well.

“The preparations are going well and everything has been sorted, which gives bodybuilders enough time to prepare thoroughly.

“Everything looks promising and we are looking forward to an exciting contest,” Shangai said.

He said eight provinces; Harare, Bulawayo, Midlands, Mashonaland Central, Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland East and Mashonaland West had shown interest in taking part in this year’s contest.

The contest will see bodybuilders facing off in five different categories, which include Junior Men Under-21, Senior Men Open, Women Bikini fitness, Men’s fitness and Wheelchair bodybuilding.
