Mt Pleasant National Assembly representative Cde Jaison Passade has urged Zanu-PF members in his constituency to register to vote following the extension of the Biometric Voter Registration exercise.

The BVR exercise was extended to February 8, to cater for people who failed to register for various reasons during the blitz that ended in December last year.

Cde Passade said this while addressing hundreds of Zanu-PF supporters at Bond Shopping Centre yesterday.

“Some people failed to register last year when the BVR process started due to various reasons, but the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has extended the exercise until February 8, so let’s go out and urge those that did not register to do so now.

“Only 14 000 people managed to register in the last exercise so we must ensure that more people come and register to ensure that we win in the forthcoming harmonised elections,” Cde Passade said.

He said the only way to preserve the new political dispensation was to register to vote and ensure President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF win the elections resoundingly.

“Following the successful implementation of Operation Restore Legacy we can only ensure that its successes continue by ensuring that our President and party win the elections,” he said.

ZEC extended the registration exercise to cater for the so-called aliens and others who failed to register last year.

The electoral body registered 4,7 million in the initial exercise and is targeting to register five million by the time the voter registration extension ends.

Meanwhile, Cde Passade also donated foodstuffs to vulnerable groups in his constituency.
