FC PLATINUM and Warriors defender Kelvin Moyo’s quest to land a move to the South African Premiership is edging ever closer, with reports suggesting a number of clubs are inquiring about his availability.

Moyo charmed scouts in South Africa after providing an important defensive solidity that powered the Warriors to a sixth COSAFA Cup title last week.

The 25-year-old was early this year reportedly a transfer target for compatriot Kaitano “Ngwenya” Tembo at Supersport United.

However, the defender, a Highlanders youth graduate, is determined to collect maximum points against his boyhood club at Mandava this afternoon.

“I am happy as a player to play for the national team and that we played well. It was not easy, there were a lot of expectations from the supporters, but I am happy I am now in the history books of Zimbabwe,’’ said Moyo.

“It is a major boost to my career and the achievement pushes me to continue working hard to achieve more.

“It is not easy playing for the national team, and more so winning a trophy.  As a player I am still craving for more. It is a big game for me, I come from Bulawayo, I played for Highlanders juniors and we know each other as players, but I will not put myself under pressure.

“It will be a difficult game, but I think come Saturday we should be able to collect three points. Now that we are on top of the log, we need to keep working hard, winning our games and see what happens come the end of the season.’’

The miners go into the last game of the first half of the season optimistic of getting maximum points to go to season break as log leaders. But they have a very tricky opponent in Highlanders, who have been very good travellers this season, losing only one game away to Ngezi Platinum.

Bosso will be without first-choice goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda, defender Andrew Mbeba and midfielder Ben Musaka through suspension, while midfielder Nigel Makumbe is illegible to play against his parent club.

Makumbe is on loan from FC Platinum. The defensive trio of Honest Moyo, Peter Muduhwa and Tendai Ndlovu were expected to take a fitness test.

“Playing a team like FC Platinum will be very difficult without most of our regular players. It’s a game we have to play and we will try and salvage something from FC Platinum. It will be a difficult game, but we are going to face them head on. We have done well this season when playing against teams that play beautiful football like we do, so we hope to have another good day of football,” said Ndlovu.

Early pace-setters Ngezi Platinum Stars will be looking to maintain the pressure at the top against Black Rhinos at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.

CAPS United will also be on the road away to Chapungu, while Triangle host Chicken Inn in some of the exciting matches lined up for tomorrow.
