More Pfumvudza inputs on way

Farmers in Harare Province, who were registered, trained and whose plots were inspected by Agritex officers under the Pfumvudza programme, will get their inputs once fertiliser becomes available, Harare’s Provincial Development Coordinator Mr Tafadzwa Muguti has said.

In a statement yesterday, Mr Muguti said there was a shortage of fertiliser at Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depots.

“However, once the fertiliser is available, the distribution process will continue,” said Mr Muguti.

Already, 690 households from Manyame Air Base, Retreat, Epworth, Glen View, Chikurubi, Rugare, Malborough, Warren Park, Ushewekunze, Eyecourt and Ruwa, have received inputs.

Mr Muguti said so far, 35 540 farmers were registered and 21 482 were trained.

However, only 7 635 plots have been verified by Agritex officers. “All potential beneficiaries are urged to book for plot verification from Agritex officers,” said Mr Muguti.

He said farmers who want more information can contact Ms Nyaradzo Tagarira, the deputy director responsible for Strategic Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in the office of the PDC.
