Villagers in Makurumure, Buhera, were recently left shocked after a woman’s body was found in an abandoned well in a suspected case of murder. The body of Mrs Colleta Mutsigiri was found in the well after her immediate family had reported her missing.

It is believed that on January 23 at around 7pm, Hardlife Munyadzi (29) of Makurumure Village left home for Mutsetsa Business Centre, while his wife, Colleta Mutsigiri, and their three children remained at home.

Munyadzi reportedly came back the following day to find his wife missing. He allegedly searched for her, but failed to locate her. Villagers also joined the search, but could not find her.

Munyadzi then filed a missing person’s report with the police. Villagers later found Colleta’s body in a well. On retrieving the body, they found a cut on her head, raising suspicion that the deceased was likely to have died before being thrown into the well.

Munyadzi is assisting police with investigations. Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakowa was unable to comment on the matter, stating that the case was still under investigation.
