At least 15 girls will battle it out tonight for the Miss Zimbabwe crown at a pageant to be held at Mabvazuva Village in the capital.
The Miss Zimbabwe Trust yesterday urged people to participate in the pageant by voting for their People’s Choice Award. The pageant would be screened live on Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, with the 15 girls aged between 16 and 23 battling it out for the title. “We have judges that will select the rest of the winners, but the People’s Choice award is dependent on the audience’s input,” said the Trust’s chairperson Mrs Mary Chiwenga.

“We have ensured that many are able to view the show by streaming it live on the Internet through the Zimbabwe Academic and Research Network (ZARNet Wireless), an ISP under the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services.”

She said the platform was open to subscribers from all networks and a lucky voter stood a chance to win an iPpad.

“To vote, viewers should type the message MZIM* number of contestant, and send a message to 35599,” she said. “The voting platform will be open until 10pm on Saturday. The SMS costs 20 cents each and subscribers can vote as many times as they wish.”
