After dazzling the nation with productions such as “Muzita RaBaba” and “Muchaneta” and proving that they are indeed a strong force, the crew is back to do more damage — in a good way though.

They were the biggest winners at the 2018 National Arts Merit Awards, bagging four awards.

They are Mirazvo Productions and they armed with a new TV series dubbed “Bokoto Brooke Triad”.

This latest production is being done in partnership with the soon to be biggest television content creator in the country, Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN).

We caught up with the writer of the film, Nick Zemura and he shared with us some insights about this new project which is set to premiere in Harare on March 29.

“This is a story I wrote in 2015, while imagining how people with vested interests in more than one area can be affected by tragedy,” said Zemura. “Assessing how they react to tragedy in light of public perception and just to come up with an entertaining drama that has many layers.”

The cast has a cool mix of budding talents supported by veterans in the game.

Of particular interest is the trio of Charles Kapfupi, Charles Mucheriwa, and Charles Mzemba.

“I do believe I was tricked into casting the three Charles’! But we feel we could not have named a better group than these veterans.

“On the ladies’ side we have Charity Munyikwa, Portia Muperekwa and Amanda Kapfupi.

“We do have a lot of other supporting actors like Darlington Kaitano, Brighton Chidindi-Muromba, Jonathan Kamhungira, to name just a few,” he shared.

Zemura who has extensive knowledge in the filmworld said the series will run five times a week.

“So far we are earmarked for a five-times a week run, with the first season signed for. I truly hope we will be able to go to five or more seasons. There is a lot of drama, and plenty of twists to go on for a long time.”

The US based filmmaker expressed joy with the coming in of ZTN onto the local film scene.

Continued Zemura: “We have enjoyed a good relationship with ZTN, and as you can see, we are doing a very interesting production with them and hope this relationship continues for a long time.

“ZTN has emerged at a time the nation is in need of more outlets for content to give people variety. There is a need to create a culture of watching local content, so this partnership does really boost the local film sector.”

ZTN’s head of content acquisition, Pamela Mashanda echoed Zemura’s sentiments.

“This partnership and the recent one we had with Daves Guzha and Joe Njagu on their recent production is all aimed at bolstering the local film sector. We will keep working with independent filmmakers and assisting in any way we can to have more local productions of high quality produced. This will help shaping our own narrative and telling the story as it is,” she explained.

The Mirazvo team is not resting after finishing the first season of the series as they are already brewing something outside the capital.

“We have a very interesting drama that is set outside Harare, which is unique both in language and texture. You will feel a certain authenticity when you see this one. It is a fun project to work on so far and we are really hoping to have a good time filming it,” revealed Zemura.
