TelOne has donated groceries worth thousands of dollars to St Agnes Children’s Home in Gokwe in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative.

Speaking during the handover of the goods, Minister of State for National Security, Cde Owen Ncube, said the donation followed his appeal to TelOne management to chip in and assist the vulnerable children.

He thanked TelOne for the support which will go a long way in addressing the various challenges at the home.

“Being an orphan is the worst experience for our children, every child desires to grow up under the care of both parents,” said Minister Ncube. “I have great hopes that these children who are being taken care of at this facility, will definitely be future leaders in various spheres of life.

“The best way to prepare them for the future is to take care of their present desires like shelter, clothing and food, these are basic human rights which children in these circumstances also strive to have.”

Minister Ncube said he will continue to emulate the great works of the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa through her Angel of Hope Foundation, who has given hope to many people in difficult circumstances through her charity works.

“As a nation, we are drawing inspiration from the First Lady,” he said. “Her great works have transformed society in the country’s 10 provinces where she is also taking care of the orphans.”
