Conrad Mupesa in Mhangura
Mhangura Copper Mines, which closed over two decades ago, is set to start operations as early as January next year, a Cabinet Minister has said. Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira revealed the development while addressing hundreds of Zanu-PF’s Women’s and Youth League members who converged at Mhangura Golf Club for the party’s agricultural training programme.

The training was conducted by the Hurudza Farming Production Tips Team and the Zimbabwe Women Rural Development Trust.

Minister Mupfumira said: “Mhangura Mine is expected to have been opened by January next year as the Government is moving forward to industrialise the nation.”

She said this was part of President Mnangagwa’s emphasis on opening Zimbabwe for business.

“As such, I encourage you to take this outreach programme to learn more so that you empower yourselves beyond any unimaginable levels,” she said.

The Makonde Senator and Zanu-PF national secretary for Environment and Tourism said the current economic challenges would be overcome if women and youths play their role in improving their way of doing business particularly in the agro-based industry.

She also urged women to identify water bodies in their respective areas so that they would be funded for Command Fisheries projects.
