MDC-T aspiring candidate for Chiwundura Constituency in the 2013 harmonised elections Desmond Ngwegwe allegedly went berserk and assaulted a man he caught being intimate with his wife.
Ngwegwe (28), of Ngwegwe village under Chief Gambiza in Chiwundura, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder when he appeared before Gweru magistrate Ms Florence Nago.

He was remanded in custody to next Wednesday.
Prosecutor Mr Daniel Tapfuma alleged that on Monday last week at around 10pm, Ngwegwe got a tip-off from a friend that his wife, Ms Tariro Paramu, was having an extramarital affair and was with one Peter Musakanyi (22).

Mr Tapfuma alleged that Ngwegwe proceeded to Mkoba Village 16 where his wife was sleeping with Musakanyi.
He went home and found his wife and Musakanyi in the blankets naked in the spare bedroom.

Paramu tried to restrain her husband from attacking Musakanyi but failed.
It is alleged Ngwegwe attacked Musakanyi with an iron bar on the head.

Ngwegwe went on to assault Musakanyi several times on both arms.
Mr Tapfuma said Ngwegwe then pulled Musakanyi by his legs and dragged him around the house looking for his wife but they failed to locate her.

He continued assaulting Musakanyi with the iron bar several times under his feet.
The matter was later reported to the police leading to Ngwegwe’s arrest.

Musakanyi sustained fractured bones on both arms, a deep cut under his right eye and left foot.
