The trial of seven MDC-Alliance members accused of illegally staging a demonstration last year in Harare during the Covid-19 lockdown period was today deferred to next month after they indicated that they were not yet ready for trial.

Through their lawyers, Joana Mamombe, Cecelia Chimbiri, Netsai Marova, Lovejoy Chitengu, Stanley Manyenga and Obey Tererai Sithole and Makomborero Haruzivishe, through their lawyers requested for time to prepare for the trial saying they were only furnished with State papers yesterday.

The State, led by Mr Tafara Chirambira agreed to the postponement of the matter to July 8 for trial.
