MCAZ to construct solar plant

Herald Reporter

The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) is set to construct a 140kW solar power plant at their premises in Harare and has since applied for a licence from the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).

The application for the licence is in terms of the provisions of Sections 42 and 46 of the Electricity Act (Chapter 13:19).

In a statement, ZERA confirmed that it had received an application from MCAZ to construct, own, operate and maintain the 140kW solar photovoltaic power plant in Harare for own consumption.

MCAZ joins a number of corporates that have installed solar power plants at their premises.

“The solar plant will not be connected to the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution grid and the solar plant will generate power for own consumption,” said the statement.
