poorly attended rallies in Kotwa, Mutoko and Murehwa. He was forced to cancel two rallies in the Zanu-PF fortress of Uzumba after indifference from the community.
His entourage had to cut short its trip to Uzumba mid-way after his advance team alerted him that no people had showed up for his scheduled rallies at Mtawatawa and Maruwe.
Addressing a handful of supporters at Kotwa Growth Point, Mr Tsvangirai blamed the poor attendance to a far-fetched myth of intimidation in the province by Zanu-PF ahead of the harmonised elections.

Mr Tsvangirai threatened to deal with traditional leaders if his party wins in the elections. He accused the traditional leaders of being used by Zanu-PF to mastermind violence in 2008. “Whether you like it or not tichasangana pakuyambuka mukwasha naambuya,” he said.

“Ndichauya kuno ndave president ndichikubvunzai imi matraditional leaders kuti makamira papi? Sakai imi matraditional leaders mogara maziva kuti kunze kuchavara.”
Mr Tsvangirai claimed that his party was forced to sign the Global Political Agreement by Sadc against its will.

He said the MDC-T was also behind the economic stability that was brought about by dollarisation just before the formation of the inclusive Government in 2008.
This is despite the fact that dollarisation was introduced by the then Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa.

Mr Tsvangirai repeated his employment creation mantra as he tried to lure votes from the youths. He said an MDC-T Government would invite its friends from the West to invest in Zimbabwe.

“As MDC-T, we will invite our friends with money from outside the country to invest here,” he said. “Most of our young people are not employed and we want to create jobs for them.”

Mr Tsvangirai told a small group at Murehwa Centre when he said: “Chaitemura chava kuseva. Zimbabwe used to be a breadbasket of Africa but now a basket case.”
Mr Tsvangirai did not explain the reason why Zimbabwe was now importing food.

He said an MDC-T government would deal with corruption in local authorities despite a clear record of failure by MDC-T councillors in various municipalities.
Ms Tracy Mutinhiri also claimed that there was entrenched fear among people in Mashonaland East province.

By his own admission, MDC-T organising secretary Mr Nelson Chamisa said Uzumba and Kotwa were still to be pernetrated by MDC-T.
Meanwhile, it was business as usual at all the places where Mr Tsvangirai addressed his rallies. Mr Tsvangirai will continue today with his whirlwind tour of Mashonaland East province with rallies set for Chikomba and Wedza.
