The way in which people conduct business and life has greatly metamorphosed with the advent of the Internet and education is no exception. In this light students from Marist Brothers Nyanga High School are embarking on a revolutionary project that is set to promote the Internet and to make it more interactive for students as they prepare for their examinations.

In the sterling and daring project dubbed The Shasha Project, Verity Holdings, a simulation company which operates under Junior Achievement Zimbabwe has sought to make an online Zimbabwean notebook and seminar facility which students nationwide can access.

The platform is a website that will include notes ,education seminar reports and tips on debates and public speaking. Verity Holdings specifically chose to do this project  following up on the clarion call by Government to boost e-learning.

The Government has an ambitious objective to take e-learning to the 8 000 schools in the country by 2015 with strides such as this one by the Nyanga high school students, the Government can be rest assured that this objective is realisable.

The students were motivated to do this project by the need for more people to use the Internet wisely. The Internet has been grossly misused by some students who watch pornographic and disturbing material online.

This has greatly diminished the status of the youth and there is urgent need to address the situation.

This can only be done by providing more educational facilities online.

The platform will be launched on the September 9 and the Verity Holdings crew is very excited about it.

They have called it the first step of the long journey.

One of the members Tendai Saruchera said the business will not interfere with their school work because they have planned their structure in such a manner will accommodate time to read and do business.

“We are in the business of education, it is highly unlikely that the business of education will interfere with education,” he said.

The boys are so confident that they will fly the Marist flag high and knowing their limitations the boys sought the assistance of IDEAZIM, an enterprise set up by students at the University of Zimbabwe. The IDEAZIM team is a consultancy outfit that assists young people to see their ideas materialise and flourish.

Fortune Kaseke of IDEAZIM said it is important that young people familiarise themselves with basic skills such as html coding as expressed by Dr Strive Masiyiwa at the beginning of the year.

Apart from this, Verity Holdings has also embarked on other projects such as making rubbish bins using spread material, in doing this they seek to use litter to solve the issue of litter.

They are  also paying school fees for three marginalised students at Tendenayi Primary school as social service. This is a perfect ensemble of students changing lives by doing business at a young age.

True to their formidable motto, they seek to bring truth, reality and transparency. Zimbabwe will need more of this in coming generations because once you admit that the world is broken, fix it .
