TRIANGLE coach Taurai Mangwiro has expressed optimism for a best season for his side ahead of the 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League race that kicks off on March 10.

Triangle finished ninth last season and failed to better Zambian Kelvin Kaindu’s fourth-place finish in 2015, which remains the Sugar Sugar Boys’ best run in the league.

That decent run also earned Kaindu a lot of respect at the Lowveld side.

Mangwiro, however, believes they are now in a better position to do well after reinforcing their squad with several new signings as well as the addition of assistant coach Tafadzwa Mashiri into their technical team after Godfrey Tamirepi left to take up the head coach’s position at ZPC Kariba.

‘’Yes, last season was not the best of performances on our part and definitely it could have been better. Our biggest undoing were the majority of our away games where we did not do well, however, we drew courage from the last five games where we drew three and won two.

‘’All the same, going forward now, we are ready for the new season.

“We know where we should improve and preparation wise we are entering our second week now and things have already started taking shape. We have several new signings on board, whom we feel will make our side a formidable force, aided by the coming on board of our new assistant coach Mashiri,” Mangwiro said.

Prodigal son Pasca Manhanga returns from How Mine, Phineas Bamusi has joined from CAPS United, while striker Delic Murimba arrived from relegated Hwange.

Defender Arnold Chivheya, who worked under Mangwiro at Harare City and Marion Chang are among Triangle’s other new acquisitions. Magwiro applauded the side’s team management for timeously dealing with the logistics well on time to avoid problems on players failing to renew contracts and added that this season would start off smoothly for his side as they had already concluded the formalities of new signings and released the players that will not be on board at Triangle.

“I think we are well on course for this season owing to a good job on the part of our management that ensures we do not lose players through failure to renew contracts and so forth,

“We had also parted ways early with those who would not be with us this season to enable them to look for openings sooner, such players include Blessing Chimwamuchere, Benson Maglas, Tarisai Rukanda and James Chivasa
