A 30-YEAR-OLD man from Gokwe committed suicide by hanging himself on roof trusses in his bedroom following a misunderstanding with his brother over a woman whom the two shared. The incident occurred last Friday when Ephraim Munduna of Tizora Village under Chief Njelele, Gokwe, was found hanging and left a suicide note and $3 apologising to his brother Elvis (34).

It is understood that the two shared a woman and Ephraim had sired a child with the woman but his brother later became jealous and tried to evict him from their parents’ homestead which they both inherited. Acting Midlands police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende confirmed the suicide but could not give further details.

“I can confirm that we are investigating a case of sudden death by hanging where a male adult aged 30 allegedly committed suicide in his bedroom hut. We are still carrying out investigations to ascertain the cause of the death,” she said. Chief Njelele, however, confirmed that the two brothers were fighting over a woman when the other committed suicide. He said the two were sharing a woman for a long time and all hell broke loose when the woman fell pregnant.

“The incident occurred on 20 October at around 7 am in Tizora Village. The two had been summoned to a village court because they were allegedly fighting over a piece of land. Last Friday the village head sent a messenger who went to Elvis’ house and awakened him before proceeding to Ephraim’s bedroom hut. On arrival, he knocked at the door but there was no response and he then peeped through the window and discovered that he had hanged himself,” he said. Chief Njelele said Ephraim left a suicide note and $3.
