FOLLOWING his maiden appearance at the Olympic Games, Ngoni Makusha says he is focusing on the positives he picked at the multi-sport event.

Makusha missed out on the men’s 100m semi-finals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as he could not go past Round One in the event.

He had won his heat in the Preliminary Round to progress to Round One.

“I feel good. It was a wonderful debut for me and I am taking more of positives than negatives from the whole experience. So I am really happy that I managed to participate in my first Olympics ever.

“The whole experience was just something else. It was so unreal, meeting all the guys, the world champions, the record holders, and just having like lunch or dinner with them and training at the same track and racing with them it was just a whole lot of experience for me.

“And I am also learning a lot from them,” said Makusha.

With his goal of going to the Olympics fulfilled, Makusha says he is taking a break before he starts working towards his next targets.

“Honestly right now I am just going to give it a break for a month or two, just take a rest and get the body to rest. I have been working hard for so long, I just need to rest and forget about athletics for a while.

“Obviously we will sit down with the team and plan the way forward, plan how we are going to attack the World Championships and all the major competitions coming up.

“So that’s the plan for now, otherwise I have achieved one of my goals, so it’s time to reset again and get back to the drawing board,” said Makusha.

He is expected back in the country on Thursday.
