zanu-pf aspiring candidates for the three National Assembly constituencies in Makonde District have called for the establishment a vocational training centre (VTCs) in the district to empower youths and women. Addressing a campaign rally in Doma recently, zanu-pf candidate for Mhangura constituency Cde Precious Chinhamo Masango said she will see to it that her constituency had at least two vocational training centres if elected.

“If voted, I will work with Government to ensure that Mhangura constituency is allocated at least two VTC’s as a way of empowering youths and women,” she said.

Cde Chinhamo Masango said the VTCs would ensure that people are self-employed, thereby lessening the burden on Government. Makonde zanu-pf candidate Cde Kindness Paradza also bemoaned the lack of a VTC in his constituency.
He also pledged to work with the responsible authorities to establish one in his constituency.

“We are hoping to establish a vocational training centre in this constituency to benefit both the youths and the women,” he said.

“I am confident of establishing this centre because our leader President Mnangagwa wants the nation to build more VTCs to empower citizen.”

In its manifesto, zanu-pf has vowed to establish vocational training centres in all the districts to empower women and youths. Mashonaland West has fewer tertiary institutions as compared to other provinces and the introduction of VTCs would be a welcome development.
