The party season is indeed here. While the talk about Morgan Heritage and I-Octane is still fresh, merrymakers seem headed for another exciting year-end as Simmad Promotions have just announced that South Africa’s Mafikizolo and Zambian R’n’B sensation Roberto will share the stage at the Harare International Conference Centre on December 18 during the annual Harare Lockdown gig.

Mafikizolo made a mark at the gig last year while Roberto will be in for his maiden appearance on the local stage. The show promises fireworks, especially considering that the foreign artistes will be supported by the cream of local acts that include Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah and Alexio Kawara.

It is likely to be a gig to remember as the best local and international acts take turns on stage at the gig that coincides with the climax of the festive season. The show is set to be a contest between local and foreign artistes because the international acts will have to put extra effort to make a mark against the good local performances.

Mtukudzi has been on a serious roll over the years and many know him as the superstar who knows how to deliver the best. On the other hand, Jah Prayzah is regarded as the man of the moment as he continues to rule the local scene with his outstanding album “Jerusarema”.

Their foreign friends Mafikizolo and Roberto have a challenging task to make lasting impressions on Zimbabwean soil. Roberto is a Zambian singer/songwriter/producer and the youngest of a musical family.

Roberto entered the music scene as a rapper, and later turned singer after being inspired by Usher’s hit song “My Way”. He later encountered a career turning experience after travelling to and living in South Africa for some time. While in South Africa Roberto wrote songs for and worked with well-known South African artistes, such as Boom Shaka, Thebe and Buso, to name just a few.

He is well known for the song “Amarula” that has made him a household name in the region. Mafikizolo will be returning to Zimbabwe after an outstanding performance last year that confirmed that the duo is still strong in the game.
