Star Wars Day was celebrated with the release of three new characters’ names. The names of Lupita Nyong’o, Adam Driver and Gwendoline Christie’s personas in the highly-anticipated film were all released with details about each one.According to Vanity Fair, “12 Years A Slave” beauty Lupita will star in The Force Awakens as Maz Kanata.

Although fans are yet to get a glimpse of the actress in action, it’s reported that her character is a CGI creation who is described as a pirate.

Meanwhile, Girls star Adam is set to play lightsaber wielding Kylo Ren.

Exact details of his role are being kept under wraps, however, it’s believed that Kylo is a villain who commands two snowtroopers loyal to the evil First Order on the frozen plains of their secret base.

“Game of Thrones” star Gwendoline will be playing chrome stormtrooper Captain Phasma in “The Force Awakens”, according to the film’s official Twitter account.

As a nod to the announcement, Gwendoline took to her Twitter account on Sunday and wrote: ‘‘May the 4th be with you. #StarWarsDay. IT FEELS SO GOOD TO SAY THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!’’

Unfortunately though, it wasn’t not all been good news on “Star Wars Day” as Josh Trank, the director of the anticipated spin-off series, unexpectedly dropped out of the project.

After a year of having the incredible honour of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path,’ the 30-year-old film-maker said in a statement.

He continued in his statement, posted to the official website StarWars.com on Friday: ‘‘I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities.’’

While Josh, who directed the 2012 sci-fi movie Chronicle, has stated that he wishes to pursue other projects, The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that the film-maker was fired from Star Wars.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Josh Trank for comment. – dailymail.
