LOCAL Premiership football teams are interested in signing former Warriors defender Eric Chipeta.

Chipeta, who has fully recovered from an injury, is still club hunting in South Africa where he is also considering his options.

The local league will start on October 30 while the Chibuku Super Cup resumes on September 29. And top-flight clubs are preparing for the new season after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chipeta’s last stint in South Africa was with GladAfrica Championship outfit Cape Umoya which was sold.

But it is not all gloomy for the former Ajax Cape Town defender after two local clubs expressed their willingness to have him on their books.
Speaking from his base in South Africa today, Chipeta said he is considering all the options.

“I am glad that l have fully recovered from an Achilles tendon injury. So I am looking for a club here in South Africa and if don’t find anything here I am looking forward to look for a club back home,” he said.

Sources close to the deal say two unnamed clubs are keen on the tall defender who is comfortable on the right back as well as central defence.
A number of Zimbabwean international players are still club hunting in South Africa.

Warriors forward Evans Rusike is yet to secure another contract after he was released by SuperSport United at the end of last season. Rusike struggled with injuries at the Pretoria club and never reached his peak.
