Zimbabweans should use available resources to implement the economic blueprint Zim-Asset and not wait for some imaginary conducive environment to obtain, Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister Engineer Michael Madanha said yesterday.

Speaking during the commissioning of five new Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe staff buses worth $491 000, acquired from Deven Engineering (Pvt) Ltd at Harare International Airport yesterday, Eng Madanha said Zimbabweans should create the conducive environment themselves.

“In the Zim-Asset spirit, we must continue to do more with what we have and not wait for some imaginary conducive environment to obtain. We should create the desired environment ourselves.

“The implementation of such well calculated programmes, such as demonstrated here, will go a long way in creating a good environment not only for employees and management, but also for the travelling public and the airport users,” he said.

Eng Madanha said his ministry was aware of major capital projects whose completion had been hamstrung by funding.

These include the Harare International Airport runway rehabilitation, Kariba and Buffalo Range airport expansion and, construction of the control tower for the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport.

He said once completed, the projects would positively impact on investment, tourism and economic development and transformation.

“CAAZ is in the service industry, of which an integral part of success lies with its human resources. In order to provide world class service all the time, CAAZ staff should always be focused, smiling and happy.

“Various issues will give rise to good industrial harmony, key amongst which is that employees should feel wanted, valued and respected by both the board and management,” he said.

CAAZ board chairman Mr Moosa Allana, said the five new buses would replace the old fleet.

“The buses are earmarked for Harare, Charles Prince, Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo and Victoria Falls Airports,” he said.

Mr Moosa took the opportunity to congratulate Eng Madanha on his appointment as Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister saying, he was looking forward to benefit from his ideas.
