A non-governmental organisation, Civil Society and Churches Joint Forum, a platform that brings together civil society and various churches to the agenda of redefining people’s struggle, has been formed.

In an interview the Forum’s national coordinator Abigale Mupambi said it is time to go back to the basics.

“Our issues have been captured in political bickering, let’s go back to basics to redefine our struggle. What binds us are bread and butter issues, election time has been defined and reached an end hence we call for all citizens to say this is high time we all sober up and say what is it that we want from the people we put into offices because we believe a full complement of competent leaders is in offices right now.

“All of them have been sworn into both Parliament and local authorities and they vowed to serve the nation so now we cannot continue going back into election era after they have vowed to say they are now serving the country.

“The major issue is that politicians have to be fair enough to the country and we have brought in the mantra that let’s all agree and recognise one brutal fact that MDC Alliance just like ZANU PF, are in power and why we are saying so is they are controlling the most economically active councils in this nation and that speaks to power and ZANU PF controls the Parliament equally as other rural local authorities and that also speaks to power,” said Mupambi.

“So its high time politicians come back and say this is what we are doing in these offices that you gave us instead of them drowning us to say we are still fighting for power,” Mupambi said.

She added that those who are opposing should take their arguments somewhere because what matters to the people of Zimbabwe were bread and butter issues.
