Langa to meet Byo business community Minister Langa

SPORT, Arts and Culture Minister Andrew Langa will this morning get a clearer of picture of the extent of corporate support for Government’s bid to stage a successful SADC Under-20 Youth Games when he meets with the Bulawayo business community this morning. Langa is keen to see Zimbabwe hosting a good show when 14 SADC countries converge in the City of Kings for the Games.

The Youth Games’ Local Organising Committee marketing director Kenny Ndebele said in a statement yesterday that the minister would “take the opportunity of meeting the business community to engage them to gain support, and their involvement in the successful hosting by the City of Bulawayo’’.

“The 15 SADC member states will participate in this growing regional international games. The Government of Zimbabwe has shown its commitment to successfully host of the Games. A massive investment has been made to boost the sports infrastructure in Bulawayo to create world-class facilities for the Games and the legacy of sports in the city.

“It is important the corporate world partners with Government in delivering a successful event that will leave a lasting legacy. The Local Organising Committee fuelled by the resources from the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture is working hard to make preparations for a seamless delivery of the Games,’’ Ndebele said.

Ndebele, who is also the Premier Soccer League chief executive, said the Games would also leave a legacy in that the country would have improved its sporting infrastructure to match international standards.

“The youth of Zimbabwe will always cherish the said legacy and hopefully show this by excelling in all future sporting competitions in all disciplines. The chairperson of the LOC, Mrs Khonzani Ncube, has challenged the Bulawayo business saying

“The task at hand to successfully deliver these Games is massive. We want to extend invitation to all business people and corporates of Bulawayo to take advantage of existing opportunities to market and grow their brands.

“We want to galvanise all sectors of our economy to take part in the hosting of these very important Games in the SADC region,’’ Ndebele said.
