LONDON. — Chelsea will offer Frank Lampard a job at Stamford Bridge following his exit from New York City. The legendary midfielder (38) will leave the Major League Soccer side when his contract expires at the end of the year. And the Blues are prepared to have him back in a coaching, ambassadorial or mentoring capacity.

Lampard revealed last month that he is keen to go into the former.

Chelsea are keen to embrace their former stars, to prevent the kind of breakdown in relationship that has occurred with former players at Arsenal. Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry are among a number of ex-pros who have expressed frustration at being overlooked by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger after hanging up their boots.

Lampard left Chelsea in 2014 as the club’s record scorer with 211 goals.

He has clinched three Premier League titles — including their first in 2005, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the European Cup and Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge. — The Mirror.
