went about their paces in a morning session at Italian Sports Club the Warriors had a special guest — Coventry — watching from the sidelines after the former Olympic champion paid them a surprise visit.

Zimbabwe’s greatest Olympian of all time also cheered on the Warriors as they thrashed the Palancas Negras 3-1 in the first leg at Rufaro on September 9.
The “Golden Girl” said it was her first time to watch a football match live and she later posed for pictures with some of the players after that game.
Now Zimbabwe need a draw or avoid a defeat by a two-goal margin to book their berth at the finals in South Africa next year.

Yesterday, Coventry came to the Warriors’ training session at Italian Sports Club and took time to cheer the spirits of the Warriors.
Coventry, who was in the company of her boyfriend Tyrone “Mukwasha” Seward, addressed the Warriors in their team bus after their session.
“I just came here to say good luck to the guys,” said Coventry.

The Queen of the Pool said she would be following match on television.
“We are all going to be supporting the guys and I should be following the match on television. I know that they will make us proud then,” said Coventry.
Coventry, who has won seven individual medals at the Olympic Games, encouraged the Warriors to put up the same impressive performance they exhibited in the first leg at Rufaro. “I think the boys have already showed us what they can do at home and I am sure they will know we are all behind them,” said Coventry.

Coventry later wrote on her Facebook page yesterday that: “It was wonderful to be able to pop in this morning and wish our Zimbabwe Warriors good luck for their soccer match against Angola on Sunday.

“Our guys are looking good. I also think I told them if they win, I’d give them a swimming lesson! Zorai Butter,” wrote Coventry on her wall.
Meanwhile the Mzansi 90 committee that is mobilising resources for the Warriors will continue with their appeals for support when they host a fund-raising dinner at the Rainbow Towers tonight.

Mzansi 90 chairman George Manyaya said last night that they were expecting more local companies to come on board and back the Warriors cause. “We are expecting top dignitaries as well all those companies that are still to one on board the Warriors train to come and sport this patriotic cause,’’ Manyaya said.
