Comedian and singer Freddy Manjalima, better known as “Kapfupi” is putting final touches to his new album “Tooth Brush” due for release early March.
The new album was supposed to be out last year but was delayed by financial constraints.
The musician said the new album was open for interpretation.
He said the album carries six tracks which touch on social life.
On “Zimbuya Repakona”, he sings about an old woman accused of witchcraft. “Imba Haimiri” is dedicated to all women. He emphasises that there is no family that stands firm without a woman to fill the role of the mother.
Other tracks worth listening to include “Mwana Wamai Vangu” and “Kundifarira Manyepo”.
The music is a blend of sungura and jiti.
However, the comedian jokingly said he might surprise fans with a dancehall song or two since he collaborated on “Dai Ndakaziva” with chanter Mostaff.
“I am not into dancehall music. I only featured on Mostaff’s song but who knows I might record a song or two dancehall tracks”, said Kapfupi.
“Tooth Brush” is Kapfupi’s eighth album including the chart topper “Mai Ngaa” and “Kudya kunozipa”.
