Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe second princess Mercy Kamanura’s lawyer, Lovemore Matapura, on Tuesday indicated that he intends to file an application for the discharge of his client at the close of the State’s case.

Harare magistrate Mr Batanai Madzingira postponed the matter to November 24 for ruling. Kamanura (24) is facing charges of stealing a jumpsuit worth $40 from Edgars Stores.

Allegations are that sometime in September Kamanura entered Edgars at corner Kwame Nkrumah Avenue and First Street at around 5pm. She allegedly pretended that she wanted to buy clothes and took three dresses into a fitting room.

Kamanura later emerged from the fitting room with two dresses, it is alleged.

She returned two dresses. When a security guard searched her at the exit point, he allegedly found a jumpsuit in her handbag. It is alleged the model lied that she had bought the jumpsuit at Edgars’ Joina City branch.

The security guard dashed into the fitting room where Kamanura had tried the dresses and found a price tag that had been attached to the jumpsuit discarded.

Kamanura failed to prove that she bought the jumpsuit and was arrested.
