JSC in drive to upgrade courts Mr Chikwana

From Runesu Gwidi in GUTU
THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has embarked on a programme to upgrade court systems and infrastructure countrywide to improve access to justice and service delivery.

This was said by the JSC secretary, Mr Walter Chikwana during the official opening of a new office block and upgraded Gutu Magistrate Court on Friday last week.

“In our strategic plan for 2016-2020, we agreed to ensure meaningful access to justice,” he said.

“Meaningful access to justice entails a whole range of principles of legal protection, from citizens’ awareness of their rights, legal aid and counsel, fair adjudication, enforcement of court orders, administration of justice and availing of court infrastructure.

“We are, therefore, walking the talk. The infrastructural development at courts we are carrying out in several districts countrywide, fits perfectly into Government’s broader framework of devolution and the ease of doing business.”
