ZIMBABWE’S JBC basketball team scooped gold at the Bob 91 tournament after beating Matero of Zambia 46-38 in the final at Belvedere Teachers College over the weekend.
On the road to the final, JBC beat Hustlers 53-42 in the semi-finals in a very competitive match.
Vixens won the women’s section after beating Lakers 38-33 in the final.
Bob 91 basketball tournament chairman, Tendai “T-Buns” Zhakata, said they were happy with the level of the performance at the tourney.
“The local clubs performed well and made us proud as the title remained at home after JBC defeated the Zambian team in the final.
“The weekend was a wonderful time for us and we enjoyed watching the games.
“Now, we are looking forward to the awards night where we are going to give out the prizes,” said Zhakata.
Tatenda Maturure was the outstanding player for JBC.
The sponsors for the prestigious Bob 91 tournament included Irvines, Koala Meats and Tendo Electronics.
In the schools section, Conway College, ruled the roost after beating Churchill 39-34 in the final and walked away with a floating trophy.
Girls High won the girls category after beating Goromonzi 30-15 in the final.
