THE Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee are expected to again postpone the hearing of the case in which Dynamos defender Partson Jaure is being charged with bringing football into disrepute.
The hearing has been set for today.
Jaure is away on national team duty as he was included in the 18-member Warriors squad that played Tanzania in an international friendly match in Dar-es-Salaam yesterday.
Dynamos secretary-general Webster Chikengezha said they wrote to the disciplinary committee informing them that the player will not be available for the hearing today as he is away on national duty.
The Warriors are expected to return in batches with the first group expected before midday today while the rest are scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
“This matter was supposed to be heard tomorrow (today) but now Jaure is not here because of national team commitments.
“So, we just wrote to the disciplinary committee to advise them of the situation so that they won’t be surprised if they don’t see him.
“It was something beyond anyone’s control. We were also not aware that he could be travelling this week until Monday morning and we couldn’t stop him since it is a national team duty,” said Chikengezha.
Shockingly, when DeMbare officials advised the disciplinary committee that Jaure would not be available, because of national duty, they were told that the player should have excused himself from travelling to Tanzania to attend the hearing.
How the disciplinary committee believes that their hearing is more important than an international friendly match not only defies the logic but appears to buttress suspicions that they appear to have made their decision already.
Jaure was accused of using foul language against referee Thabani Bamala in a tense Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Highlanders at Barbourfields last month.
The referee stated in his report that Jaure insulted him using abusive language when he gave the DeMbare player a red card following a violent tussle with Highlanders striker Njabulo Ncube.
Bamala also included in his report that Jaure attempted to physically attack him after the DeMbare player reacted angrily to the referee’s decision.
Jaure has since made a public apology after being sanctioned by his club.
Jaure initially appeared before the disciplinary committee last week but the hearing could not take off after Chikengezha, who accompanied the player, successfully applied for postponement as they needed more time to prepare their defence.
DeMbare are set to play their last game of the season this Sunday needing a victory over Black Mambas and hoping that events elsewhere favour their cause in their hopes of winning their 20th league championship.
Chikengezha said the Harare giants were going out for a victory and let nature take its course in other matches that could have a bearing in their cause.
“Obviously it’s no longer in our hands but we are still in it. We just need to win our game because you never know what happens in the other games.
“The boys know exactly what we are faced with and they are focused on the job,” said Chikengezha.
Highlanders are also looking to finish with a win against Shabanie Mine as they still entertain hopes of winning the championship.
Bosso were humiliated 4-0 by Harare City in the penultimate game of the season last Sunday to tumble from the top of the table into third position.
Shabanie Mine are not entirely safe from the chop despite sitting on eighth place in the league table.
They are one of the six teams that will be fighting for survival on the last day and at the same time to secure a place in the top eight.
In 2011 Shabanie were in the drop zone and needed a victory over Highlanders while hoping that Masvingo United lose their match against Monomotapa to survive relegation.
The Chinda Boys were three points in the red on 31 points going into the last game of the season.
And on that Sunday afternoon at Maglas, they posted a 2-0 victory over Bosso to get to 34 points.
With the news that Monomotapa had won by the same scoreline at Rufaro, Shabanie Mine managed to evade the chop at the expense of Masvingo United on superior goal difference.
