DYNAMOS defender Partson Jaure has issued a public apology for his violent reaction towards referee Thabani Bamala and admits that his actions at Barbourfields felt short of the standards expected from such a high-profile player. The Zimbabwe international defender concedes that his actions took away the glamour from what was supposed to be an afternoon of entertaining football between the country’s top teams when they beat Highlanders to seize control of the championship race last week.

Jaure hit headlines following his furious reaction to the red card he was shown by referee Bamala after he clashed with Highlanders striker Njabulo Ncube.

The Dynamos defender felt that he didn’t deserve such severe punishment although Bamala said in his report that he sent him off, not for the soul, but for the abusive language that the two players exchanged after the incident.

Ncube immediately apologised and his absence has been felt by Bosso who struggled to break down relegation Motor Action in a league match at Rufaro on Sunday and settled for a 1-1 draw with Master Masitara scoring for the Bulawayo giants.

Jaure’s absence was also felt in the Dynamos defensive shield at Gibbo as the champions conceded two goals, in what was generally a shaky defensive show, although they rallied to find an equaliser and steal a point from the tie.

The 22-year old defensive rock, who has matured quickly to claim his place in the DeMbare and national team line-up, yesterday came out in the open and said his actions were a result of emotions that exploded as he was under a lot of pressure.

Jaure has since been punished by his club for the offence and the Premier Soccer League have also indicated he will be summoned for a hearing.

In a letter delivered to the Zifa offices yesterday, Jaure said he felt sorry for his actions and apologised to the referee Bamala, the national association, the Premier Soccer League and all stakeholders, including the supporters.

“I write this letter with a great deal of remorse over my act of misconduct against Zifa referee Mr Thabani Bamala during a league match between Highlanders and Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on October 27, 2013 in which he was centre referee.

“In the heat of the moment and given the pressure that I was under to try and help Dynamos to win this match I over-reacted to both the altercation I had with Njabulo Ncube of Highlanders and to the match referee Bamala.

“My actions were really uncalled for and unbecoming for a Premier League player and of a player who is a member of the Zimbabwe senior national team and I fully understand that such actions bring the name of football, Zifa and the PSL into disrepute.

“By copy of this letter I would like to offer my sincere apologies to Mr Bamala, to the Zifa referees Committee, PSL, the league sponsors, the paying public and those who watched the game on television, to Dynamos FC, and to Highlanders FC.
“It is regrettable that I let my emotions overcome the best of me. My coach Callisto Pasuwa has also heavily sanctioned me for my actions.

“If I could take it back I would like Mr Bamala to find it in his heart to forgive me as I have nothing against him. I promise to ensure that in future I will not let emotions take the best of me no matter what stakes will be on offer in a game. I will strive to stick to the Fifa Fair Play tenets which require us to win or lose in dignity,” said Jaure in his letter of apology.

The DeMbare defender missed the trip to Triangle at the weekend and will not be available again for the next game against Shabanie Mine.

DeMbare currently lead the race with 49 points despite dropping two points at Gibbo as their nearest rivals Harare City and Highlanders were also held in their matches.

With only three games now remaining in the season, Dynamos will be praying for a favourable outcome when the PSL Disciplinary Committee convenes to hear the case.

Zifa Communications Manager Xolisani Gwesela said the association acknowledged the apology from the defender and applauded the defender for realising his mistake taking corrective measures.

“His apology shows that he is a mature player and it’s in the right direction. We salute such kind of conduct that when one sees the wrong he has made he makes steps to correct the mistakes. That is the way things should be.

“Partson is still a young player and that he showed remorse is something expected from a true sportsman.
“We appeal to players and officials that uncontrolled anger is not good in football. They should always have mutual respect for another,” said Gwesela.
