The military-style birthday cake

Musician Mukudzeyi Mukombe better known as Jah Prayzah, celebrated his 27th birthday in style at an event held at Big Apple in the capital.
The musician rocked the crowd like never before to celebrate his birthday.Promoter Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, musicians Kireni Zulu, Morgan Dembo and his former dancer Evidence Kufinya aka Generator graced the event.

His documentary was distributed at the show for free before his wife Rufaro cut the cake.

To add colour to the event the musician and his Third Generation Band were for the first time dressed in casual wear.

Jah Prayzah meant business from start to finish, choosing to play songs that took him to stardom.

Some of the songs include “Sungano”, “Rwendo”, “Chibvumirano” and songs from his latest offering “Kumbumura Mhute”. Offerings from his latest album, which include “Kumaricho”, “Kumbumura Mhute”,  “Dali Wami” and “Makanika,” are fast becoming popular.

“I thank all those who gave me the support I needed. My parents, Baba naMai Mukombe I thank you. At the age of 14, doing my Form 2 at Musanhi Secondary School, my parents blessed my effort to develop my music interest when I engaged my Geography teacher, Mr Musimbe, who taught me how to play mbira. I give thanks to Mr Musimbe, who at his spare time would endure my overdrive to learn,” he said.

Show organiser Benjy Nyandoro of Jive Zimbabwe would not reveal how mucht the musician pocketed from ticket sales.

Jah Prayzah was born on July 4, 1987 in Uzumba where his parents live.

Apart from music, the “Tsviriyo” hitmaker has also had cameo roles in a number of local dramas.

He has more than four albums to his name — “Rudo Nerunyararo” (2007), “Sungano Yerudo” (2010), “Ngwarira Kuparara” (2012), “Tsviriyo” (2013)0 and “Kumbumura Mhute” (2014) which is receiving fair reviews and air play on radio and television
