The Zimbabwe Chamber of SMEs has today launched an electronic membership platform that is expected to see more than 4,5 million players in the micro, small and medium enterprises sector registering their businesses as part of a major drive to increase capacity utilisation in line with Vision 2030.

The US$1,7 million platform was launched by the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira in Chiredzi town at the ongoing strategic conference for micro, small and medium enterprises. The conference was jointly organised by Zimbabwe SMEs Chamber and financial advisory firm Alinial Chartered Accountants Private Limited.

Over 200 high-profile delegates are converging in Chiredzi town today for the inaugural Zimbabwe Chamber of SMEs strategic conference that seeks to revolutionarise the micro, small and medium enterprises(MSMEs) sector through seeking ways of increasing capacity utilisation and make it the key anchor of the national economy as Zimbabwe angles to attain upper middle income economy status by 2030.

Alinial Chartered Accountants chief executive Mr Samuel Makuvire says the new platform will improve the ease-of-doing business within the MSMEs sector benefiting players in both rural and urban areas.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, Straightlink Construction Director Mr Cardimiel Mhike said the new platform will power growth of the MSMEs sector as business opportunities will be accessible via the click of a button while Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association president and Trans-Star Private Limited projects director Mr Petros Kagwere said the platform will buoy the aggregate national economic growth through helping the country’s MSMEs to reach their full potential.
