Harrison predicts tough season Mark Harrison

HARARE City coach Mark Harrison has predicted a tough season as he believes most teams have strong squads good enough to challenge for the title. The 2019 Premiership season gets underway at the end of the month.

And Harrison, who last season helped transform Harare City from relegation material, into a force good enough to reach the Chibuku Super Cup final, believes there are no clear favourites in the marathon.

He has refused to put pressure on his team which some believe could challenge for the title.
“It’s going to be a tough battle for the championship this season judging by the way all the teams have strengthened.
“You can’t afford to underrate any team after so much activity in the pre-season. So, what I am saying is that a very tough season is upon us.

“Platinum teams are capable of competing. You see, FC Platinum are the defending champions, they have match fitness after a good campaign in the CAF Champions League.

“Ngezi Platinum Stars are also one of the teams to watch, so is Chicken Inn after both those teams had a good season the last time out,” he said.

Harrison’s team face FC Platinum at home in their opening match of the season before travelling to lock horns with newly-promoted side Manica Diamonds.

He described the opening schedule as a season-definer for his side.
“It’s an advantage to start the season against one of the strongest teams in the league and the defending champions.
“That’s the game which will define our path. We remain confident that we will do well in the coming season.

“But, one thing we are not going to do is put ourselves under pressure. We need to improve gradually and for this season we just have to better our performance.

“We are targeting a top-six finish and anything else will be bonus.’’
