HARARE City face a cagey assignment against Hwange at the Colliery tomorrow as they aim to redouble their efforts in the second half of the season in their fight for survival. The Sunshine Boys are under pressure after Black Rhinos powered to a surprise 1-0 win over How Mine yesterday to give new coach Jostein Mathuthu a dream start.

Bigboy Mawiwi and his men have been on recovery path, though, following a bad start and they are hoping to take their battle to the Colliery.
“We are aware that it is a difficult place to snatch a win but we are focused and we are confident of getting the three points.

“The league race is still wide open and I think if we win three or four games we will rise into the top half,” said Mawiwi.
After taking the championship race to the wire last year, City had an indifferent start to the season and that poor take off nearly cost Mawiwi his job after suffering six straight losses.

“Injuries have also not been kind to us and we still have players like Talent Chawapihwa and Nomore John out but we are happy with the squad we have and I also hope players like Misheck Mburayi will come to the party.
“He is a good player but he just needs to find his form,’’ Mawiwi said.

Midfielder Phineas Bhamusi will not be available for the tie with an ankle injury he suffered in the NetOne OneWallet quarter-final defeat to Chicken Inn last week.
Harare City are third from the bottom on the log standings with 15 points while Hwange are ranked higher up on fifth position after garnering 23 points following a brilliant start.

The coal miners, however, appeared to have lost their tempo towards the mid-season break after losing three straight matches home and way before coming to claim a point from Harare City.

The Premiership’s surprise packages ZPC Kariba will be travelling for a tricky fixture at Chicken Inn this afternoon.
ZPC Kariba are the only team unbeaten and have surpassed expectations for a team playing in the top-flight for the first time.

Interestingly, Gwenya Rechamhembe sit on second place on the log standings, above giants Dynamos and CAPS United.
Saul Chaminuka’s men have amassed 27 points from 15 starts and are only three points behind leaders Highlanders, who face city rivals Bantu Rovers at Barbourfields tomorrow.
