The Civil Service Travel Bureau, a division of Government’s premier logistics company, CourierConnect, has commenced operations and has already started receiving business from several State-owned agencies.

CSTB is offering travel agency services for the civil service, parastatals, quasi-Government institutions and local authorities. The first State-owned travel agency since independence is expected to save Government hundreds of millions per annum as savings from travel agency services and will provide affordable, secure and more convenience to the travelling Government officials.

Government is the single biggest traveller in the country and CourierConnect managing director Mr Isaac Muchokomori believes that internalising the revenue will give his company an urge over its competitors.

“Given the current challenges the economy is facing, we are endeavouring to ensure that our Government meets all travel commitments at cheapest possible rates. As an entity CourierConnect through its Civil Service Travel Bureau will fully specialise on Government travel and will provide security and confidentiality to the whole travel process by Government officials,” said Mr Muchokomori.

CSTB is a division of CourierConnect, a subsidiary of Zimpost which is wholly owned by Government.

The division offers air travel ticketing service to all Government departments, State enterprises and quasi Government institutions. Its first office opened doors last week with the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Department being the first department to give business to the new travel agency.

Apart from offering free visa facilitation services, airport shuttle services and hotel bookings, CSTB is also offering door-to-door ticket deliveries. It has also set up offices at the country’s airports to facilitate check in and other airport services to its clients.

The company has since written to all Government agencies soliciting for business.

“Civil Service Travel Bureau, through its partnership with a leading travel agent is able to deal with all your airline enquiries as it has an online central reservations system which provides direct access to fares, issuing of tickets and information on all IATA registered airlines,” said Mr Muchokomori.

With an already established branch network in the country’s biggest urban centres complemented by the wide postal network in Zimbabwe, CourierConnect is well positioned to provide expeditious and efficient courier and carriage services.
