Government is dedicated to transforming the health sector by ensuring all rural health care facilities have adequate vital drugs.
It is also determined to improve staff welfare and working conditions.

Speaking during a tour of Zvimba North, Mashonaland West Province’s healthcare facilities yesterday, Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo said Government would spruce up rural health care facilities under a $200 million infrastructure facility and ensure availability of drugs.

“We are working tirelessly to improve our health sector because health is more important than anything else,” said Dr Moyo. “We are dedicated to improve the infrastructure in all healthcare facilities of this country.

“We will see the sprucing up of rural health care centres through the $200 million infrastructure facility. We can build a state-of-the-art hospital here at Raffingora Hospital, we can spruce up the infrastructure and equipment. The laundry services should be improved and equipment increased as well.”

Dr Moyo said the ARV stock levels at all institutions he toured were impressive.
The institutions had first and second line ARV drugs. Minister of state for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Mary Mliswa-Chikoka urged the people of Zvimba North to take medication and report challenges in time.

“Today we have come here to tour our healthcare facilities in Zvimba North and what we have seen together with the relevant authorities is evidence that there are people in need of health care services,” she said.

“Government is willing to address all the challenges that rural people are facing in accessing health services.
“We have taken note of the challenges that the health personnel are facing as well as the patients. Our Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Moyo, has taken note of these challenges and I urge you to report shortages and other challenges that you are facing.”

The delegation which included Zvimba North MP Cde Marian Chombo and Ministry of Health officials, also toured Vanad Mine Clinic, Mutorashanga Hospital and Ayshire Mine Clinic.
