Three suspected MDC-T supporters, who were accused of petrol-bombing former Zanu-PF Harare Youth League chair, Godwin Gomwe’s house in Budiriro 5B, were yesterday set free.

Tendai Muchekahanzu (38), Stephen Dalaina (26) and Victor Munhuwani (36) were removed from remand at the instance of the State.

Prosecutor Mrs Idah Maromo told Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe that they needed more time to investigate.

“We request that the accused be removed from remand and the State will proceed by way of summons,” she said.

The trio was facing malicious damage to property charges.

Allegations were that on April 25 this year, in the early hours of the morning, the trio, in the company of others, went to Gomwe’s house and gained entry into the premises.

It was alleged that two of the three threw petrol bombs aimed at Gomwe’s dining room, but the bombs failed to explode.

The court was told that the trio then started throwing stones at the house, damaging four windowpanes and denting the garage door.
