GOLDEN Valley fired the warning shots when they won their opening match against Kariba Waves 3-1 as the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League got underway at the weekend.

The goldminers are now under the guidance of Clifton ‘’Somalia’’ Kadurira, who said it was the best possible start for his men. Golden Valley got their goals from Tafadzwa Moyo, Gift Chigora and ageless Levison Tembo.

‘’I think it’s a good start and a confidence-booster to the boys. I have been here for three weeks now and I think we are making progress.

“As a coach, you always have targets and I think we are doing well and we have tough encounters coming ahead of us, but it is a good test for the boys as well.

‘’We have been working hard in the past weeks and I believe that will be shown by the results,’’ said Kadurira.

Golden Valley will travel to the capital tomorrow to face Black Mambas, who are one of the title favourites, before hosting Cranborne Bullets on Saturday.
