Campaigns for Zanu-PF primaries have started well in Gokwe Central with candidates encouraging people to vote peacefully, while embracing President Mnangagwa’s call for  unity.

The three candidates vying for the seat are Zanu-PF secretary for war veterans Cde Victor Matemadanda, Cde Conlias Muzeza and Cde Bonfas Zijena.

Cde Matemadanda, in an interview, said Gokwe Central will lead by example by holding a peaceful election on Sunday.

“Gokwe Central will lead by example even if I lose, I will assist the one who win to mobilise people so that we will retain the seat and also get even more votes for our number one candidate, President Mnangagwa,” he said.

He said it was important to lead by example as they want to show how Gokwe is loyal to Zanu-PF.

“As you can see, we are going on peacefully and the people are happy. We need to make sure that Gokwe leads by example,” he said.

Cde Matemadanda said he will always push President Mnangagwa’s vision to have a credible free and fair elections.

“We have told our people that we now have a president who care for us and a man whose vision will take Zimbabwe forward.

‘‘Lack of development will be a thing of the past,” he said.

He said the winning candidate should develop the constituency and make it open for business.

“We have reputable companies that will come here in Gokwe and create employment for our people. They will also develop infrastructure in the constituency,” he said.
