Villagers in Nyanga District are expected to benefit from free medical services today courtesy of the Nyanga is Supa Foundation medical outreach programme.

Organisers of the programme, which will run till Sunday, said 15 doctors had confirmed participation and would offer their services for free.

Nyanga South Member of Parliament (MP) Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, who is spearheading the programme, is expected to meet villagers who will seek medical assistance in different wards in the constituency.

Villagers with different ailments will also have an opportunity to get specialist treatment.

Cde Mandiwanzira, who is also the Minister of Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security, said it was all systems go.

“We are looking forward to have another successful outreach. We have previously hosted successful events in recent years and we are happy with the response that we have received from doctors, who are willing to participate for free. This is a bigger and better edition since the doctors will offer their services in more wards comparing to previous years,” he said.

The programme will be rolled out in areas such as Nyajezi, Nyatate, Mapako, Nyarumvurwe, Gairezi, Nyafaru, Gonde, Dombo, Claremont, Erin, Spring Valley, Bende and Matema.

A few years ago, Cde Mandiwanzira, with the support of Rotary International, invited doctors from India, marking the beginning of the annual outreach programme.

“We urge villagers suffering from different ailments to come and receive treatment for free,” he said.

Diabetes and cervical cancer screening will also be conducted.

Sick villagers in Nyanga travel long distances to get medical services, a situation, which has seen some people dying before they could receive medical assistance.

Senior citizens and the less privileged villagers, who cannot afford healthcare are also set to benefit from the outreach programme.
