This year’s dancehall cup clash on August 31 at the City Sports Centre is expected to be a thriller with new dancehall female artistes battling for supremacy. On the slot are Sandra Gazi known as Lady Squanda by her fans, Bounty Lisa real name Linnet Musenyi and Lady B to give their best in dancehall at this annual event done alongside the Harare Agricultural Show.

The show, organised by Chipaz Promotions, is meant to search talent among dancehall artistes.
Partson Chimbodza, the brains behind the show, said this year’s gig is different from others in the sense that for the first time female dancehall artistes are going to take part and are expected to give their best.

“I think in Zimbabwe dancehall music is going somewhere with these female artistes as they are as good as their male counterparts and I want to assure people that this show is really going to be a great party for the  Harare Agricultural Show,” said Chidzomba.

Lady Squanda is one female artiste to watch out for as she has on many occasions outclassed male artistes with her hits “Fire Ndini” and her collaborations with Freeman which includes “Neshungu”.

She is also expected to deliver from  her latest album titled “Rufu RwaSquanda”.
In fact, she exudes confidence and stamina just like her counterparts and you just have to attend the show to appreciate how gifted she is on the microphone.

She has made her presence felt before when she curtain raised for Jamaican artiste Agent Sasco, where she sent the crowd into a frenzy with her high-energy act.

Bounty B coming after Lady Squanda, the female chanter is doing very well especially with her songs “Basa Rangu”, “Handikwate”, “Zvibakera” and “Muvengi”.

Lady B is the new kid on the block though she knows her mic very well. She is promising to be one of the dancehall artistes to make it in the zone.
These ladies have come in the industry to conquer for sure and are inspiring other females. We are happy that this year we had female artistes and hope their number is going to increase each year that we may be able to plan a female dancehall clash vs a male dancehall clash.

Dubbed “Harare Show Cup Clash” fireworks are expected from other Zimbabwe’s top dancehall artistes Freeman, Guspy Warrior, Sniper Storm, Princo Spice, Shinsoman, Rickfire, Dadza D, Killah T, She Calaz and Princo Spice.

These are expected to ignite a revelling mood among their fans especially Freeman and Guspy Warrior as they have already made their mark in the music industry.

If there is one gig that dancehall lovers do not want to miss, it ought to be this one.
The contest, which is held in the same format as the famous Reggae Summer Splash in Jamaica, will see emcees rotating on the mic, displaying their lyrical prowess and whoever gets the loudest cheers from the crowd becomes the winner.
