Despite the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League still in its early stages, FC Platinum assistant coach, Daniel Vheremu is happy with the improvement that his charges have shown in their opening two matches of the 2024 season.

FC Platinum are currently sitting at the top of the log standings with six points in two matches and will hope to continue with their fine run of form.

The FC Platinum assistant coach, who has been in charge of the platinum miners in the absence of Norman Mapeza who was with the national team in Malawi for the Four Nations tournament, revealed that he was happy with the match fitness improvement of his charges ahead of their home fixture against Chicken Inn to-day at Mandava.

Having struggled to a 1-0 win against Premiership newcomers, Chegutu Pirates at home before, FC Platinum gave a below-par performance in the platinum derby played at Baobab Stadium in which they won 2-0.

Vheremu admitted that the team had struggled with match fitness in the opening two fixtures when they played Premiership newcomers, Chegutu Pirates and arch-rivals Ngezi Platinum Stars.

“Our performance is getting better.

“If you see our performance in the first game against Chegutu Pirates we struggled in terms of match fitness and against Ngezi there was a bit of improvement and going into our third game of the season we are seeing some positives within the team,” said Vheremu.

With the platinum miners’ assistant coach happy with the progress of fitness levels, the club’s skipper Wallace Magalane is confident of getting the desired result against the Gamecocks.

“Every time we face Chicken Inn it’s not an easy game, and we are going into the match with a positive mind hoping to get a positive result,” said Magalane.
