FC Platinum are still hoping to turn the tables when they host Young Africans of Tanzania at Mandava in two weeks time. The Zimbabweans suffered a humiliating 1-5 defeat at the Independence Stadium on Sunday.

“We have not lost hope. We will try and redeem ourselves at Mandava. If they managed to win 5-1 in their own backyard we can still do the same at Mandava,” said club chairman Dumisani Sisale.

“We have maximum support for our players and our technical team.

“We, however, feel sorry for the Platinum family and all the soccer loving fans in the country because they have to stomach this defeat.”

A number of Zimbabweans turned up for the match and they were joined by supporters of Young African rivals Simba.

“We do not want to fool ourselves.

“I have played football before. It’s not going to be easy. They say miracles do happen but not after losing 5-1,” said FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza.

“We do not have to fool ourselves.

“It’s not like that I do not have confidence in my team, but five is a lot.

“Our return match is going to be difficult. We lost to a good side. Miracles do happen but for us to win it’s not going to be easy.”
